It's my pleasure to announce that Jeremy Huddleston has recently
started an internship with Apple working on X11. As you all know,
Jeremy has made many contributions to the X.org project relating to
the Mac OS X platform, and we are very excited to have him on our
team.
At the same time, Ben Byer has elected to take on other
responsibilities within Apple, but will continue to be involved with
the X.org project as time permits. As a result, Jeremy will become
the primary engineering point of contact for X11.
Please join me in welcoming Jeremy,
A warmer welcome has never been deserved! It's great to have Jeremy
onboard; I'm hoping we'll have the opportunity now to make the
sweeping changes in X11.app that it needs to stay "competitive" (or
should I say, compatible?) with other modern X implementations. It
would also be nice to set up some automated regression testing to make
sure we don't break compatibility with the important legacy apps which
*require* X11 to be compatible.
As Kevin noted, my attention has been pulled increasing toward other
projects, but I'm not going far -- just wearing a different hat, most
of the time. Still, although it may sound crazy, X11 still has a
special place in my heart, so I intend to stick around as co-
maintainer of Xquartz with Jeremy:
