I use X11 just so I can use rxvt, so I see nothing wrong with using it
for xterm. I think to get xterm to automatically login in without
using a password you might try 'xterm -ls' or possibly 'xterm
--loginShell' (forces it to behave as a login shell). There are quite
a few command line options to customize your xterm environment. I
would recommend running 'man xterm' just so you can check out all the
command line options, you may discover others you might want for
personalizing your xterm environment as well.
