I think it might have something to do with launchd thinking X is still
running ... not sure why that is. I have a possible workaround for
you (which incidentally I committed to git last night, so primo timing).
Try downloading this:
http://people.freedesktop.org/~jeremyhu/X11.bz2
Decompress it and place it here (overwriting the existing binary):
/Applications/Utilities/X11.app/Contents/MacOS/
This binary *should* have a workaround for this issue in place. The
next time this happens, you should probably get X11 to start via
X11.app, but without launchd support. You can verify this by typing
'echo $DISPLAY' from within an xterm within X11.app.
When this happens (either X11 not starting or starting correctly with
this no-launchd workaround), please provide us with both the crash log
and the Console.app log for the death of the old X11 and the start of
the new X11.
Thanks,
Jeremy

Hi,
As a continuation of my historical posts to this list, I am noticing
a new
issue with 2.1.4. When the rootless stuff crashes, I now have to
restart my
Mac because when I start X again, I have no titlebar and thus
cannot move
the X application window. Restarting X does not work. Logging off
and on
does not work. Can someone maybe tell me what is being restarted or
reset
which is being fixed by the restart? If I knew what it was, I could
manually restart it maybe. This whole having to reboot thing has not
happened before. Needless to say, my god is it disrupting. What is
the
general estimate as to when the rootless stuff in X.org is going to be
stable and these problems are a thing of the past?
Thanks,
Jesse
