X11 Confirm Closing of Window?

I think I am remembering this incorrectly, but I thought that window
closing would be prompted by a Warning of Stupidity or Uncertainty(TM)
that there are open processes in the window. I know that Terminal.app
does this -- is there a way to request this as a feature. I just lost
something by accidentally clicking through an open browser window and
closing the xterm window behind it. D'oh ...
