switching windows in x11

It used to be that i could switch windows in x11 using the hotkey cmd-`. But now that i've got x11-2.1.1 it has switched to alt-` which is an important combination in emacs. How do i get the old hotkey combination back?
Could someone who has an x11 where the cmd-` hotkey works send me their x11 keymap table? That might tell me what's going wrong?
