Hi Ben,

Thanks for the tip!

I have asked the customer to do some checking and should find out which X11 library is getting loaded soon. If it turns out that the customer has Tiger's X11 installed, is there a standard procedure (or otherwise a recommended procedure) for uninstalling it? And, should Leopard's X11 be reinstalled in case files or links have been broken by the Tiger install?

If the only problem is that the launchd functionality doesn't work, it may be that the user deliberately installed the Tiger version of X11 to address other issues; in that case, they may be better off manually setting DISPLAY to :0 and launching it themselves. That's your call as to what you want to support!

There are uninstallation instructions up at http://trac.macosforge.org/projects/xquartz/wiki/X11-UsersFAQ -- see item #3 under "Want Tiger's X11?"
