I believe the following URL tells you how to fix the yellow curser
problem on Tiger X11:

I applied the recommended patch a few months ago (following one of
the security updates, when the problem surfaced) and it worked; the
problem hasn't returned.

It has been awhile since I had to display client windows from my
Linux PC on my
MB (10.4). Today I had the need and I see the yellow cursor
problem. I thought
this had been fixed in an Apple release but I guess not. Since
yellow doesn't
show up all that well on white backgrounds I need to fix it.
Looking in the
archive I see a new Xquartz was made available in March 2006.
Xquartz on my
machine is from February 2008.
Is there an updated Xquartz with the fix? If I install the
Xquartz from 2006
what patches, etc will I lose over using the one installed on my
machine now?
If needed I am using an MB (not pro) running all of the latest
official Apple
10.4 patches.
There were several security updates this year that changed Tiger's
Xquartz, but I don't think Apple ever fixed the yellow cursor bug
for Tiger. You are on your own there.
