Hi,
I have just installed the latest Xquartz update (v2.2.3) on my laptop
(intel macbook pro running 10.5.3). At work I use my macbook pro in
"lid-down" mode whilst plugged into an external monitor. In the new
version I am no longer able to launch X applications from the apple
terminal (e.g. typing nedit &) unless I explictly set the DISPLAY to :
1.0 (by default I have DISPLAY=:0.0 from somewhere, though I don't set
it in my .profile so I assume this is set by the system somehow).
I notice that in an xterm DISPLAY is set automatically to :1.0 - my
question is whether there is a way of setting this automatically for
the Apple terminal (which is much nicer)?
Also, I am not quite sure of the motivation for the default being :1.0
as setting DISPLAY=:0.0 does not appear to work on either screen (e.g.
with both the laptop and external screen on).
By the way, I also have never got the "x11 starts automatically" thing
happening - I always have to launch X11.app first.
Any help appreciated!
Thanks,
Daniel Price
