Well, I can't speak for others, but I for one don't answer all the
questions that I could answer on the mailing lists I read. I would be
overwhelmed in no time. So I answer only when I have time to spare and
feel able to contribute. If others do the same, it follows that
sometimes, you're out of luck and nobody answers. It happens to me
once in a while.

I use a totally different method for mapping the backspace key to delete:
XTerm.vt100.translations: #override \
Meta <Key>BackSpace: string(0x1b) string(0x7f) \n\
<Key>BackSpace: string(0x7f)
Actually, there is more to it than this, but this is enough to give
you and idea, I'm sure.
