I used virtue desktops also, and things like fluxbox and other such virtual desktop apps, the following quote from my post the other day contains the information you need to make spaces behave in a sane manner. I think it requires 1.5.2 though so you know.

X11 works great for me now. I use lots of scientific X-based apps,
and they all work as expected.
The real problem I have now resides with how Spaces works.
It seems to have been designed for people who want to run
all Xterm apps on one desktop, all word apps on a different
desktop, etc. I know it is currently possible to open
apps on one desktop and then drag a window to a different
desktop, but this is not ideal for those of us who divide
up our desktops based on projects, not applications. This
used to work really well with Virtue Desktops (one of my
favorite "enabling apps" of all time).
For example, I'd like to open a Terminal window in one Space,
then go to a different space and open another Terminal window
in that New space.
Can you point me to an Apple site where I can submit this request?
Or, is it possible that I've missed a preference setting that
would allow me to do this?
Thanks,
Mike
