What version of ssh are you using? (what is the output of 'which ssh'?)

Dear Jeremy and all,
I have been following this mailing list at a distance for some time,
waiting to move to the new X11. So far I have been using X11_Legacy
since I upgraded to Leopard about 6 months ago. I scanned back over
the list (not completely) but could not find the solution to what
must be a simple problem.
With X11_Legacy I can ssh -Y and get X windows from the remote
machine back on my local machine. With X11 2.3.1_rc1 I get, on the
remote machine (a Linux box):
~$ xclock&
/tmp/launch-fTZYXq/: unknown host. (nodename nor servname provided,
or not known)
[1] 12876
~$ X connection to localhost:10.0 broken (explicit kill or server
shutdown).
[1]+ Exit 1 xclock
~$ echo $DISPLAY
localhost:10.0
On my local machine:
~$ ls -l /tmp/launch-fTZYXq/\:0
srwx------ 1 johna wheel 0 Nov 17 13:58 /tmp/launch-fTZYXq/:0
I scanned all my personal rc and sh files. There are none that set
DISPLAY, either on my local machine or the remote machine.
Also, the first xterm that pops up does not seem to know where
anything is, including xterm itself. I have to Command-N to get
another xterm then I can find xterm and all my own aliases, etc.,
from my own .bashrc.
Any help gratefully received.
John.

Hi all,
I'd like to thank everyone that helped out and tested through the
three beta releases of 2.3.2 over the past month and a half. I
think 2.3.2_rc1 is in pretty good shape and is now ready for a
wider audience.
2.3.2 brings a lot of updates over 2.3.1. A full list can be seen
in the ChangeLog here:
http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/wiki/ChangeLog
http://static.macosforge.org/xquartz/downloads/X11-2.3.2_rc1.pkg
The main changes from 2.3.2_beta3 are the integration of xpbproxy
into the server's AppKit thread and an update of the system xinitrc
scripts. You can now create a ~/.xinitrc.d with scripts in it that
will be sourced just like the ones in /usr/X11/lib/X11/xinit/
xinitrc.d ... this is the recommended way of "customizing" your
xinitrc since it will still allow you to receive updates from us.
Thanks,
Jeremy
