Not really... you can use the -geometry command line option for many
X11 applications to tell it where to display on the desktop... but
there's no placement "choices" available in quartz-wm

I often use X11 with my laptop connected to a larger external

an X application (nedit, gimp, etc.) from an X11 window on the
external monitor, the application's window pops up on the laptop
monitor. Since I'm usually focused on working on the external
monitor (this is the one I've selected in the Displays preference to
have the Apple menu), I then have to manually drag the application's
window from the laptop monitor over to the external monitor. Is
there any way of telling X11 to put new application window by
default on the external monitor with the Apple menu rather than the
laptop monitor?
