Known bug: http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/ticket/58
I'd be willing to bet that Growl is actually the culprit here, but I
have growl on my system with no problem... so /shrug
I have no way to really reproduce this, so I don't know what is going
on to cause it. Without a reliable test case, this isn't going to get
fixed, so the more information you can give, the better.

I upgraded from 2.3.0 to 2.3.1_rc5. I've recently [re]started using
emacs
on a Fedora Core 9 server via X11.
Every few minutes, focus seems to shift from the emacs window to...
something else. I can't tell what. Maybe no app at all. My
keystrokes, as
far as I can tell, are going absolutely nowhere - no beeps, no visible
responses, command-Q doesn't quit anything, command-, doesn't launch
any
preferences.. etc. The same thing happens if I use Firefox across X.
This could VERY WELL BE unrelated to any changes in 2.3.1. I've
changed a
bazillion things on both the Mac and the server this week - and I
wasn't
spending all that much time in X11 before, either. So I'm just
mentioning
it in case it triggers something in somebody's memory, or someone
has some
troubleshooting suggestions, etc.
DETAILS
Server: FC9, x86_64
X11: 2.3.1_rc5
Transport: TCP (not ssh forwarding)
Focus follows mouse: off
Other likely culprits: Spaces, HyperSpaces.app build 367, Growl
1.1.4, Adium
1.3, RescueTime, VMWare Fusion 2.0RC1
