The X11 startup procedure runs in a login shell.
That would explain the extra xhost.

To see what I am talking about, run:

  launchctl list org.x.startx

PS. I hope you have firewalls protecting your network, in particular
blocking connections to port 6000 and upwards for a bit. Exposing a
wide open X server to the entire Internet does not strike me as being
particularly safe.
