Hi,
I recently upgraded to 10.5.5, and after that I installed Xquartz 2.3.1.
However I have some problems with some applications where the
application either dies or fails to start - all that is printed to the
console is "Bus Error". This happens mainly with rdesktop from
macports (I removed it and reinstalled in case it needed to be built
against current X11 but it didn't seem to make any difference). I can
always make it happen by logging in to a remote machine and going to
start -> settings. Settings doesn't pop up and rdesktop dies.
Another example is the texlive 2008 tlmgr. I installed tk etc. from
macports but whenever I try to start it it gives the same Bus Error
message.
Other apps (NX client and MATLAB) seem to be OK.
To be honest I'm not sure if it's a problem with xquartz, or with
macports, but since it only happened since the new version I thought
I'd start here. Is there anything I can do to get some more debugging
information?
I'm loathe to go back to 2.3.0 because the sticky modifier keys bug
was really annoying but I guess I will try it if theres nothing else I
can do.
Thanks,
Robin

There is certainly a crash report in ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/ that
tells more about the cause of the crash.
