Have you examined your .login and .cshrc files? On my system tcsh
does not mangle $DISPLAY, but I in multiple places I have worked
almost all the tcsh users had .login/.cshrc files they had inherited
from other tcsh users, with long ancestry and a lot of dubious stuff,
including - very frequently - hardwired setting of $DISPLAY to :0 and
the like. Utterly wrong, and the users often did not know it was
occuring. Please look.
