Neither from an user nor a developer point of view I can understand
this.
With the next Mac OS X update to 10.5.7 you will get a X11 close to
the 2.3.x, which we at the bleeding edge use right now, and which
causes the problems you see and you want to downgrade to a version
which doesn't show those problems?
This may cure to problem for the moment but not in the end when the
users have a newer X11 installed via the major update.
Anyway if you still want to downgrade follow the instructions given
at point 43 on
<http://forums.macosxhints.com/showthread.php?s=31af3ad4e1b2ae25621f70f550391c17&t=80171&page=3>.
Instead of 2.3.x just install the 2.2.x X11.
