I am still in 2.3.3_rc1 (I will install the rc2 later) and I still have the problem of windows and widgets not showing up in full screen mode when switching back and forth between X11 and Aqua.
More precisely, the problem concerns the switching between X11 and another Mac OS X application. It is resolved if upon returning in X11, in which case only part of the open applications will appear, I do cmd-alt-a to go to Aqua (while still having X11 in the foreground) and repeat it in order to return to X11. This is my workaround for the time being.
This is on a Macbook with the GMA X3100.
