Due to some non-smooth upgrades before, I was hesitant to try 2.3.2.1.
However, I've finally tried it, and I just want to say
Thankyou!Thankyou!Thankyou!Thankyou!Thankyou!Thankyou!Thankyou!Thankyou!
Finally, I can
1) paste into Konsole
2) use Klipper
3) reliably move data between X11 and aqua.
Since Klipper now works and gets auto updated whenever the pb is
filled, I can
use it to makeup for pb's lack of history. Yay!
:-) I'm glad to hear you're pleased by the pasteboard proxy in
XQuartz. I was actually unaware it worked with Klipper, but I'm
pleased to know it does.
The pasteboard proxy for XQuartz was the first project I worked on for
Apple. It initially started out as just a means to improve text
copy/paste, and I added image transfer and other features after
reading the ICCCM spec and analyzing some existing application
targets. So, the image copy/paste became an added bonus, and the GIMP
and Photoshop users seem to enjoy that. The transfer of text is also
a lot more reliable, especially with large transfers. Jeremy
Huddleston's work and insight was valuable as well, especially in my
memory as we debated design issues, and came to the current greedy
design for the CLIPBOARD property, and the design of the preferences.
He also did the thread integration.
As an engineer I know it's not perfect, but we did our best, and we
have come a long way with XQuartz -- in more ways than just the
pasteboard proxy.
Thanks,
George
