Several times lately I have found that copying text from X11
to Aqua would not work for a while after restarting my
computer (a PowerPC G5 running Leopard, 10.5.7),
forced by some power outages.
It would eventually start working again, and I finally figured
out what is going on. I first checked all the X11 preferences,
and they were still as they were supposed to be. Typically
I am copying some text in Nedit and then trying to paste it
into TextEdit or Safari or the like.
This morning I had a power failure, restarted the machine,
and the problem recurred.
What I found fixed it was to simply select and copy some
text in Aqua (in Terminal, say). After that, I could copy text
in Nedit and paste it into Safari, but not before that.
Makes me wonder if a paste buffer doesn't get allocated
until the first copy in Aqua, so there is no place to copy to
until then.
