Managed to puzzle out that the missing file I mentioned previously was not being found 'cause I failed to execute a
source /etc/xyvision/xyv.cshrc
line.
Now, I'm stymied by the error in the subject line:
Error: Can't open display: 192.168.21.159:0.0
I've entered the command:
[William-Adamss-iMac-2:~] williamadams% xhost +
access control disabled, clients can connect from any host
and
ifconfig -a
which provided:
en0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
ether 00:22:41:30:c3:ad
inet6 fe80::222:41ff:fe30:c3ad%en0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x4
inet 192.168.21.159 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.21.255
media: autoselect (1000baseT <full-duplex,flow-control>)
status: active
So I'm mystified as to what else needs to be done to enable the connection ---
I was told to try:
[William-Adamss-iMac-2:~] williamadams% echo $DISPLAY
:1.0
So I changed the Display variable to:
> setenv DISPLAY 192.168.21.159:1.0
> ./xcalc
Error: Can't open display: 192.168.21.159:1.0
I even assumed that the -X option in ssh was conflicting so tried:
[William-Adamss-iMac-2:~] williamadams% ssh email@hidden
Password:
Last login: Thu Dec 9 13:40:15 2010 from 192.168.21.159
Oracle Corporation SunOS 5.10 Generic Patch January 2005
> setenv DISPLAY 192.168.21.159:1.0
> source /etc/xyvision/xyv.cshrc
> cd /usr/app/xyvision/xz/bin
> ./xzplorer
Cannot open X display "192.168.21.159:1.0".
