You are probably experiencing this issue:

Hi,
I'm connecting remotely via ssh to a Suse linux box with X forwarding
enabled, but I'm unable to run an OpenGL/Glut executable without the
program
terminating and printing the following error message:
freeglut (./a.out): ERROR: Internal error <FBConfig with necessary
capabilities not found> in function fgOpenWindow
X Error of failed request: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)
Major opcode of failed request: 4 (X_DestroyWindow)
Resource id in failed request: 0x0
Serial number of failed request: 24
Current serial number in output stream: 27
libxcb: WARNING! Program tries to lock an already locked connection,
which indicates a programming error.
There will be no further warnings about this issue.
Segmentation fault
Now, I've been able to successfully run other X11 apps such as xeyes
as well
as glxgears, so I'm wondering if I need to configure the window
parameters
via glut (i.e. perhaps using glutInitDisplayModeString) in any
particular
way - or if the entire endeavor is fruitless.
Thanks,
~Garrett
