Is it possible/safe to use MacPorts to install their "xorg-server"
package over top of what I now have to get the MacPorts version of
X11?
If so, can I go back to Jeremy's X11 by uninstalling "xorg-server"
via MacPorts and then reinstalling "XQuartz-2.5.1_rc1" (or a newer
version if available, of course)?
MacPorts installs its programs in different places, so there is no
conflict if you have both installed. You will want to arrange for
launchd to start the MacPorts X11 instead of the MacOSForge one; the
port postinstall will tell you what to do. Take note of the original
launchd setup so you can return to it if you need to later.
