Apple at one time wanted to make Java a first-class citizen in terms of developer and user experience (e.g., ties to Aqua, etc.). That dream went away some time ago, and if Oracle wants a current Java to be available on Mac OS X -- which it only makes sense for them to do -- they will simply have to provide it for Mac OS X.

Of course they are, it's easier to don the tin foil hat and run around screaming that the world is ending. Even Ars has lots of doom and gloomers. The notes mention other resources as well, namely openJDK. It is not like Apple is going to block Java on the OS. And I don't think that anything has been done to even intimate that Apple is dropping X11. Let's not jump to conclusions based on no actual evidence or inklings of such.
