No, but together with localhost:0, it's the easiest to check for, and
to have "dedicated" settings files for that will continue to work if
you go to a different machine, change the hostname, etc.

A Unix/Linux workstation user who discovered Mac OS X as a sort of
*nix with a real integrated desktop environment in addition to X11 and
a few bonuses thrown in? Don't you just love us? O:-)

Are you saying I could crash the other display? I've seen X11.app
crash a few times already, but that's always been the typical OS X
crash: app replaced by a crash dialog. XQuartz has yet to pull that on
me.
