If you experience this problem, feel free to copy/paste my bug report. I'm
making this as easy for you as possible so you actually do it. GO DO IT! :)
Problem report title: X11 randomly loses focus
Product: Mac OS X
Version / Build Number: (your version/build; I'm 10.6.7)
Classification: UI/Usability
Is it Reproducible: Sometimes
Problem details:
Summary: When typing away in an xterm in X11, the window randomly loses
focus. As in, sometimes ther ewill be a blink and keystrokes will be lost
and then return (reallllllly obnoxious when I type a bunch of
shortcut/commands in a row), and other times all focus will be lost. This is
completely without me doing anything. It appears to be due to iCal.
Steps to Reproduce: Run iCal, go into X11, type for a while, notice that
focus is inconsistent.
Expected Results: The window that is on top stays on top, and the keys I
press when an X11 window is open and on top continue to go to that window
unless I select another window or do anything at all that might change
focus.
Actual Results: Focus is lost sometimes. Sometimes focus returns after a few
seconds (e.g., after a few keystrokes). Requires iCal and iCal notifications
to be on and running.
Regression: This has been going on for many versions of OSX and X11...I
should have reported it long ago. Sorry!

Make sure you guys file bug reports at http://bugreport.apple.com about this to add to the noise. It will come back as a duplicate, but at least you increase the duplicate count (which is important). The more dupes there are, the more obvious it is to developers not involved with X11 that this is an issue that impacts customers.

I have a number of X11 windows open, and will be operating in one,
typing into the command line, say, when the window flashes the
borders, and I either lose focus, or lose it for a second or two, then
regain it. Anyone seen this? Any idea what's going on? Any ideas on
how to figure out what's going on?
Oh, yeah, we've all seen it. Wish they'd fix it.
