Probably this is unrelated I don't know, but it may be
firewall-related too. Leopard firewall configuration by
System-Preferences was broken but manually fixable, under SL it had
to be deactivated in order to "fix" among others portmapper issues
(I came to the unproven conclusion it must be
portmapper/firewall-related race condition problem, because in very
rare occasions NFS-mounts still succeeded).
(I don't know if e.g. iChat with video using bonjour in local
network is RPC-based but even this doesn't work here under 10.6.6 if
firewall on; it did under e.g. 10.6.4 as did the NFS-mounting.)
