Actually, setting LSUIElement to false would make those apps into normal apps that appear in the Dock and Command-Tab application switcher (when they're running). Also, when they are the active app, they would own the menu bar. Whether they would display any menu there or not is another question.
So, that would make them more intrusive into the overall GUI. It's not clear to me that it would fix the stealing of focus from X11. It's quite possible that it would just make the stolen focus more obvious, with a clearly visible other app (e.g. iCal Helper or whatever) being in the foreground and active (even if it has no windows showing).
