I guess this depends on your definition of "current". The current
situation is not necessarily the same anymore as when the event itself
was fired.
From what I can see from
http://tronche.com/gui/x/xlib/window-information/XQueryPointer.html
and the linked "Pointer grabbing" page, this depends on whether the
pointer is in synchronous or asynchronous mode.
