XQuartz not the default X server after installing 2.7.1

  • Subject: XQuartz not the default X server after installing 2.7.1

After installing XQuartz 2.7.1 (on Lion), I find that the included X11 is still the default X server. I found trac ticket #509 and I checked the permissions of the plist files:

$ ls -l /Library/Launch*/*xquartz*
-rw-r--r--  1 root  wheel  720 Feb 20 00:33 /Library/LaunchAgents/org.macosforge.xquartz.startx.plist
-rw-r--r--  1 root  wheel  665 Feb 20 00:33 /Library/LaunchDaemons/org.macosforge.xquartz.privileged_startx.plist

Next, I tried this after reading the FAQ:

$ launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchAgents/org.macports.startx.plist
launchctl: Couldn't stat("/Library/LaunchAgents/org.macports.startx.plist"): No such file or directory
nothing found to load

That seems like an odd message considering the above ls output.

Where should I be looking for the problem?

Braden
