Hello.
I recently upgraded my aging 15" Macbook Pro (running OSX 10.5.8 and XQuartz 2.3.3) to the most recent 15" Macbook Pro with a Retina display (running 10.8.5 and XQuartz 2.7.4).
In recompiling an OpenGL application I wrote for finite element modeling pre- and post-processing, the display now has considerable tearing artifacts. It runs perfectly on my old machine.
I am linking against /opt/X11/lib in addition to the OpenMotif libraries. In trying to diagnose the problem(s), I ran glxgears and am getting almost exactly 60 frames per second. In contrast, on my old machine, glxgears gives me about 2400 fps. I suspect that somehow X11 is somehow vsyncing with the native screen refresh rate? If so, how can this be disabled?
Sorry if this is a newbie question… it has been a long time since I've had to delve into this sort of thing!
