The really simple java code below ...
Renders fine in OSX native java.
Renders fine on linux under local X11.
Renders fine on linux jdk1.7 /remotely/ to Xquartz via ssh -Y
Doesn't render properly from linux jdk1.8 /remotely/ to Xquartz via ssh -Y.
I suspect some jdk-Xquartz related bug.
I don't know if its Xquartz or java - so I haven't formally filed a bug yet
on Xquartz.
Any suggestions appreciated. Happy to file a bug if someone knows whose it is...
To reproduce:
ssh -Y to some linux machine with jdk1.8
% java -version
openjdk version "1.8.0_25"
....
% javac ImageBug.java
% java ImageBug
% compare to OSX native, in Terminal..
