Thanks Christopher,
I am glad my experience on this was helpful. You have nothing to lose if you decide in the end to switch to 2.7.9 just to try but of course even for your kind of usage it may be buggy. Many people have been experiencing issues but you can certainly try to be extra sure and if this does not work for you you can go straight back to 2.7.8 without any issues. As I told you, I feel like you have nothing to gain apart from the need of staying up-to-date. 2.7.8 should still be working fine for your work and I hope that it will keep working along with Inkscape for much longer.
Taking that opportunity, I am an MD conducting research so I am not a coder to help the team, but if anyone has any skills of coding that could help fixing some of the XQ bugs please try to support the team because they are really straggling to keep this open source project alive for all of us. I wish I could be more helpful in the development but I do not have the right background!
Once again Christopher, I wish you the best of luck! I hope XQ 2.7.8 will keep working until the newer versions get fixed for our use!
Best regards,
Magda.
