I recently got an M2 MBP. I don't know if it's the ARM architecture, Ventura,
or something else, but I'm having real trouble, parimarily with xfce4-terminal.
xfce4-terminal is important because it's the only terminal I know of that meets
the following three criteria:
1) Has tabs (xterm and various other fail this)
2) Supports UTF-8 (mrxvt fails this)
3) Actually starts on OS X as installed by MacPorts (gnome-terminal fails this)
If somebody can suggest another X terminal that satisfies this, I'm open to
suggestions.
I've installed both xorg-server and xorg-server-devel. Both seem to behave the
same. As for what kind of issues I'm having:
A) Whenever I move the pointer and it's on the same screen as the terminals,
the colors go wonky. That's the best I can discribe it. The chrome goes
black, highlighting hides text rather than hilighting, and it becames hard to
read. Cmd-Tab away from X11 and back will often, but not always, restore the
colors. Moving the pointer to a different screen reliably fixes the colors.
B) If I'm viewing somebody screen via Zoom, the terminals will display the zoom
content that's unerneath them rather than their actual. I sometime, but not
always, have this same issue when I have an VM open (whether VMware or
Virtualization framework based).
I've tried both xserver-xorg and xserver-xorg-devel with no real difference.
I don't know if it's relevant, but I had to patch a header file to get the
dependency vte to compile, as noted in https://trac.macports.org/ticket/66151
Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

In 1997 a group of programmers started writing a desktop environment to fix a
travesty they didn't create. Their program promptly found its way onto un*x
systems everywhere. Today, still opposed by a software monopolist, they survive
as soldiers of fortune. If you share their vision, if you know you can help,
and if you can connect to internet, maybe you can join... the K-Team.
