I think you'll find these issues fixed in the next release of Xcode. :)

Thanks a lot for investigating these items. I'll be looking forward to
the update.
Best wishes,
Philip
It turns out that my suggestion of having "Editor uses tabs" turned on
was bogus for Xcode 1.0.x. I was thinking about the current state of
affairs when I gave the suggestion. There was a particularly bad set
of issues back then w.r.t. the handling tabs in the indentation code.

All you should need to do is to turn _off_ syntax-aware indenting.

OK, I have Syntax-aware indenting off, and Editor uses tabs on, both
widths set to 4. Now the editor doesn't do _any_ auto-indenting,
unlike PB. Is there some other flag I'm missing?

I have the same settings for tabs and Syntax-aware--and the same
problem. I also have LF for New and Existing and Unicode (UTF-8).
This is in Xcode 1.0.1. I don't know what's going on under the hood,
but offhand I'd say #1 problem's in line ending detection because
about 1/2 the time I type a return and the insertion point is at the
end of a line, nothing happens. Other times, after I get the return
to happen and type a tab it indents billy box style. Weird.
Be great if these types of things could be fixed up because normally
I spend most of my time in the editor and consequently the perception
of what is really a very nice overall design becomes diminished
because the editor can't handle Macintosh-style coding.
