Slow Xcode UI

I've recently upgraded to Panther on one of my development machines. Xcode seems awfully slow. For instance, clicking on a file in the file list will sometimes take a few seconds to finally display it in the editor pane. I have a dual 800MHz G4 and I feel like I've downgraded to a 20MHz 68030. There are numerous other items that seem to take forever in Xcode.

Does anyone else have performance issues like this? Or perhaps there is something I can do to make Xcode more responsive? I've already disabled code sensing which was excruciatingly slow; I've also disabled syntax coloring; disabled CVS too. What else can I do to speed things up?

Also, I've tried this with version 1.0 and, get this, a super secret version above 1.0 and below 1.2 that's only available to the few ADC members out there... same results on both, although they both crash with about the same frequency... every 15 minutes or so.

My project is a project builder project that I don't want to upgrade to "native" until I've upgraded all of my development machines.

Is it just me or is this a common experience?
