Hi Godfrey,

I downloaded version 1.1 and it seems speedier. The new version looks good and seems to address some issues I was having before. I'll be using it extensively so if anything comes up I'll 'radar' it. It's great to see active work on Xcode. I would guess that most developers are like me and love to get new tools frequently (within reason, of course).

Bringing up a new editor still seems a bit slower than I would expect, though. An example source file is around 80K and if I can narrow down the problem I'll report a bug. Also, I don't think syntax coloring is the problem. It goes about the same speed with or without it.

But in any case, I'm sure 1.1 is a great improvement over 1.0. I'm excited to reach a point where I can upgrade all of my projects to "native" targets. I also follow the new development on the gcc lists and I'm looking forward to the compile server when it grows out of babyhood and gets integrated.

Thank you for your feedback.

In answer to your implicit query, NDA status is the norm for all pre-release seeded projects. However, Xcode 1.1 is now final and should be downloadable shortly from the ADC download site, < http://connect.apple.com >. The Xcode Update 1.1 software update was available yesterday until back end server problems caused it to be pulled. It will hopefully reappear soon. Please re-test with the final Xcode 1.1 release.

If the performance is still not satisfactory, it would be most useful if you file a bug report with representative timings and specific information regarding your system configuration (an Apple System Profiler report). An example project that demonstrates the problem is extremely useful for us to analyze and determine how to improve it. Please file the bug report using instructions at < http://developer.apple.com/bugreporter >, then send an email to <email@hidden> articulating the bug number and attach a compressed archive with your example project. We'll be happy to look into the issue.

best,
Godfrey
