It appears to me that Xcode Tools and the Xcode update are two very
different things. Xcode update updates the Xcode application, as far as I
can tell from the online documents, while Xcode Tools gives us newer
versions of a whole lot of important things, such as Interface Builder.
Am I wrong about this? I don't think so. For example, the Xcode update
leaves me with Interface Builder 2.4, while the Xcode Tools ReadMe says it
installs Interface Builder 2.4.1:
"WHAT'S NEW IN THIS RELEASE? The Xcode Tools 1.1 release contains changes to
a variety of tools, applications, and libraries in addition to those
delivered in Xcode Update 1.1: Development Tools - InterfaceBuilder 2.4.1 "
etc., etc.
