I agree with the assessment that the question still remains. Why the
heck is it so hard to get a straight answer? I wish the Apple employees
on this list dropped the sadly PR-oriented style messages and gave us
just the plain facts.
Hysteria aside, it seems pretty clear to me:
- the 'update' is an IDE-only update (Xcode itself)
- the 'cd' is the whole enchilada, IDE included (Xcode+all related
tools).
