Per Creed's replay there is a sem_init() in /usr/include/sys/semaphore.h.
My person working the issue said something to the effect that it is just a stub and is not a fully implemented function. He found some reference to this statement on the web. Unfortunately he will not be available until the 5th. I am trying to track down more info in the mean time.
