While we're on the subject of Xcode quirks...
There are a pile of little UI problems that so far I haven't filed bug
reports on because they are so simple that I haven't been bothered to
feel like it's worthwhile. I suspect I'll be forced to make the effort,
but for entertainment and group digestion, I'll try to raise them here.
Here are a couple:
1. in the build details window, double-clicking an entry (error, warning,
etc.) opens the affected file in a new editor window. This is
irritating. I want it to open in the pane of the main project window,
where I do my editing. Even if that file is ALREADY open and in view in
that window, double-clicking in the list nonetheless opens a new window.
2. it would be cool if the editing pane in the main project window would
become focused if it is the target of a click that makes the project
window key. Often I'll be looking at some other window, then click in
the editor and hit cmd-opt-up to view counterpart. And all I get is the
system beep, since some other UI element in the project window had the
focus. Now I'm getting used to double-clicking when I want to focus into
the project window, but some smarter behaviour might be cool.
3. the class browser has no search field -- irritating. But most of the
time, it's the doc viewer I want anyway. These two tools serve very
similar purposes. Could they be merged into one somehow?
