I believe that is correct. I jumped for joy when I read this in the PB
release notes... and eventually curled up into a ball once it became
clear that the notes were lying and the feature never made it in.
I haven't tried in Xcode yet, though I naturally assumed the feature had
been subsequently added.

You could probably use a shell script (although other word on this list
is that shell script i/o is broken in current Xcode).
FWIW, I wanted this feature in order to be able to easily update the
marketing and build versions in my info.plist. What I've instead done
for the past year and a half (and guess will have to keep doing in the
meantime) is a shell script with perl that finds/replaces in the
info.plist after build.
