why is code sense that slow?
Not slow for me...
Too slow for me too (Dual 867MHz PowerMac G4).
Too slow for me too! (even on a 1GHZ G4 with 1GB RAM).
I removed code sense from the preferences and I'm back to the fast,
traditional, effective escape completion of shells and the old PB. I
also changed alt-escape to escape in my bindings.
Well, on-demand Code Sense on my trusty 450 MHz Cube with 512 Mb RAM is
quite usable actually. Not fast, mind you, but usable as replacement
for documentation search (and option-click does not help with your own
methods!).
Except that I really really hate those popup lists. They are really
slow to work with. I understand that for lots of items you cannot
circle all choices by repeatedly pressing ESC, but for few choices
repeated keypress to circle through them is the best solution.
When I am typing code, I mostly use local symbols (mostly variables)
and it is faster to press ESC one, two or three times than choose from
the popup list, so simple completion works better than Code Sense. But
when I want to use some external method, Code Sense is great.
So I have modified Text Key Bindings to have ESC as completion and ALT
ESC as Code Sense and I am happy :-)
