Setting Symbolic breakpoints.

How do I set an enable symbolic breakpoints? I'm trying to catch a double free malloc message and the documentation at /Developer/Documentation/ReleaseNotes/DeveloperTools/MallocOptions.html (the path in malloc's man page is wrong) and it tells me to break on fprintf. I put what I thought was a new symbolic breakpoint for fprintf in the breakpoints window but it is never hit. Is there some setting I need to change in xcode to hit it?
