- Thread-topic: Problems with external editor for source (BBEdit) in XCode
I have set up BBEdit to be the external editor for source code and have
come across several cases where the XCode debugger window just doesn't
seem to get along with an external editor.
The editor pane simply says "No Editor" so it is a little difficult to
set a breakpoint. Yes I can go back to the project window, open the
editor pane there and set the breakpoint, but that is a bit of a flow
break.
Related is that clicking or double clicking on a call stack does
nothing.
Why does the debugger window not display the file at least like the
project window does?
This actually brings up another issue in general about the debugger
window even with the built in editor. In PB you could get the file
sidebar to display files to set breakpoints, etc. Now it is so
disconnected. Without access to the files sidebar like in PB
file/function popups aren't really that useful. Am I missing some
mechanism for displaying files in the debugger window?
