upgrading to panther and xcode

I've upgraded my 400MHz G4 Tower to Panther and Xcode.
(I repaired disk permissions, etc)
when I open an existing Project Builder project with Xcode, it opens okay
but I cannot save it (both the Save and Save As pulldowns are greyed out).

Any suggestions?
