Were you trying to install on a system that had been upgraded from
Jaguar to Panther and that had had the WWDC release of Xcode installed?
If so, I would suggest using the uninstall script to completely remove
the old tools before installing Xcode. It's in /Developer/Tools, use a
Terminal window to run it with the following command:
sudo perl /Developer/Tools/uninstall-devtools.pl
The other possibility is that you have a defective Xcode install CD.
You can download the Xcode 1.0 release image from
<http://connect.apple.com/> and use that for your installation.

Hi,
Sorry if this has been covered.
I was installing the xcode tools from the install disk that came
w/panther. Everything seemed in order until the ''finish up' stage. It
sez something to the effect of "there were errors installing this
software please try again'
Ok... did that, same result.
Upon inspection, things seem to be in order. Apps run, etc.
Anyone else see this ?
Is there an app note on this ?
Thanks.
