I just tried this with one of the Example applications, built somewhere
inside the /Developer/ folder, and found that I could drag the
application to the desktop with no problems.
At a guess, perhaps you are trying to do this while you are logged in
as a different user? Applications built within the /Devloper/ hierarchy
seem to be created by default as being owned by the user that built
them, and with group ownership by the Admin group. This would stop them
from being moved by any other user.
Try right-clicking on the application, choosing Get Info, and change
the Permissions so that other users have access to the file.
