XCode file format documentation?

Hi, I was wondering where I can get
information/documentation about the XCode file format.
I'm currently using an Open Source build system called
CMake (Cross-platform Make) which is sort of a
Makefile or Project file generator. It is capable of
generating different kinds of project formats
including typical Makefiles for Unix to Visual Studio
projects for Windows. This is useful for software that
needs to be cross-platform because you can maintain
just one build system and you can get native projects
for your different systems and you don't have to worry
about getting out-of-sync since the build system is
centralized.
CMake can currently be used to generate Makefiles for
OSX, but it cannot yet create XCode or Project Builder
projects. I would like to see it to be able to
generate native XCode projects because I would like
access all the cool things that Apple has provided
through XCode, the distributed compile feature being
one of my favorites.
I asked around the CMake mailing list, and I think the
main thing preventing CMake from supporting native
XCode projects is their lack of documentation about
the XCode file format. So I was wondering if any
documentation documentation could be provided to get
this going.
I don't think there would be any serious trade secrets
surrendered if this information was released and I
think it would be beneficial to see this because it
might help get more Unix programmers like myself off
Makefile builds and into the Apple tools.
Thanks
