This is a FAQ. I sure hope they're planning a new release of Xcode before June's WWDC. 1.1.1 has been waiting in the wings for a while now.

Answer from Matt Morse at Apple:

There have been several reports of this problem. The easiest way to fix it is to delete the defaults that have bogus values. In a Terminal window, execute these commands:

> defaults delete com.apple.Xcode PBXHelpWindowContentConfiguration
> defaults delete com.apple.Xcode PBXHelpWindowGeometry

This will return the Documentation window to its 'factory preset' values for size, placement, splitview settings, etc. This bug has been fixed, and the fix will be available in the next release of Xcode. Until then, I'm afraid resetting the defaults as explained above is the best workaround for those seeing the problem.

Sorry for the inconvenience,

Hi all,

I'm new to this list and fairly new to Mac development in general. I'm starting by getting acquainted with Xcode, and it looks to have some pretty exciting features (excellent ISO C++ support, zero link, etc).

I have run into a strange problem with the documentation window which I'll attempt to describe in case anyone has any ideas. From Xcode I choose Help / Show Documentation Window, and I get the "Developer Documentation" window. This window originally had a divider separating the panel on the left where you select a Book (carbon, cocoa, etc) from the panel on the right where you view the documentation.

Each time I restarted Xcode and opened the Developer Documentation window, the panel on the left would shrink. This didn't cause much concern, but after a few more times the panel has shrunk completely, so now it is gone!

The best I can do now is option+command+tab to give the book list the focus then up/down arrow keys to navigate it, even though it's invisible.

I'm still optimistic that perhaps:

- There's a keyboard shortcut for accessing these dividers which separate panels? This would be useful in general I think.

- There's a preferences/config file somewhere that I might delete to reset the "Developer Documentation" window to its defaults? I poked around ~/Library/Application Support/Xcode and ~/Library/Application Support/Apple/Developer Tools/ but didn't find anything that worked.

I think perhaps there's a very obvious answer here but I haven't been able to solve this silly problem. Thanks in advance for any help.
